On Saturday I went back to my old school to perform in a concert to say farewell to the director of music who had been at the school for 20 years. The concert was great fun and it was good to see some old friends again. I played in Jazzamatazz and Big Band as well as opening the concert with a drum solo. Unfortunately there was a technical problem with my video camera and so the solo didn't get recorded. Today I decided to record a short drum solo (improvisation really) and publish it to the web. You can view the video at: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OkxWQu8Doow |

You don't need to spend lots of money on Microsoft Office Proofing Tools to get a Russian spellcheck working, in fact you don't even need to spend lots of money on Microsoft Office! There's a great free open source office suite available called Open Office. It's a full office suite including word processing, spreadsheets, presentations and more and is compatible with Microsoft Office. To download Open Office go to www.openoffice.org and download the suite. Install it and then open Open Office Writer. You'll see it's very similar to Word. Next, click File > Wizards > Install New Dictionaries... A new window pops up, follow the instructions and then within a few minutes you should have the Russian dictionary running on your computer. You can now create new documents in Writer, save them as Word documents or open previous Word documents and spellcheck them with Writer! Great! |

Welcome to my new site! The new design is easier to use, more accessible and makes use of some of the new technologies available on the web. I recently returned from Russia and have been there for 9 months studying Russian! It's good to be back in the UK and I'm glad that I've got my new site up and running. Please feel free to send me any comments you have about it! Cheers, Phil |
